I recent bought 8 of these for our basement as a replacement for our incandescent floods. I shopped around trying to find a build that would be different than other bulbs on the market in terms of dimming, etc and orders these over the Internet as they sounded the most promising. They were/ are disappointing. They are not "instant on" as they take about 30 sec to power up fully, which is fine unless you are using them in entryway, etc. They do have a low hum similar to other cfls. Most importantly, they do not dim as low as I was hoping and cannot match the incadescents as they claim. They also flicker and go out at the lower range. In addition, even the 2700 k bulbs are noticibly "whiter". All in all, I would not spend the extra money to buy these again. They seem basically the same as the other dimming cfls on the market
