I bought these lamps to protect against water entering the fixtures I had in my garden. They were aimed upward and grequently burned out and shorted due to water from rain and sprinklers. These lamps were fairly easy to install however, I had to replace the pre-existing single gang boxes with double gang boxes and they were still too small for the large lamp housings. Once installed however they worked great. Keeping water out and protecting the bulbs from short circuits. One problem I see however is the lack of space to get the bulb out for replacement. The bulb sits too far inside the housing and its very difficult to get it out.
