We recently used these Kill-A-Watt electricity usage meters at a BOMA trade show in Dallas to demonstrate the energy usage difference between a light fixture running a standard instant start electronic ballast and two F32T8 fluorescent light bulbs and an otherwise identical light fixture running a high efficiency electronic ballast and two F28T8 super saver fluorescent light bulbs. We challenged our booth visitors to tell us if they could detect any difference between the quality or the quantity of light coming from the two light fixtures. Most people could not see any difference between the two setups, but when we pointed out the readings on the Kill-A-Watt electricity usage meters, (61 Watts vs. just 45 Watts), people were truly amazed. The Kill-A-Watts really worked for us to help us sell more of our energy efficiency upgrades and lighting retrofits.
