With recent advancements in Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, LED brightness can now rival that of an incandescent lamp when used in similar applications. LEDs offer many advantages to incandescent lamps, including far longer life, (up to 100,000 hours), energy savings, (90 percent less energy required), higher reliability, (vibration and shock resistant) and more. Although these LEDs can be operated at lower than rated voltage, which will increase the life of the product, the light intensity will be reduced. Operation of LEDs at higher than ten percent above rated voltage is not recommended. Since lens caps act as filters for the light emitted from a light emitting diode, it is important to match the color of the wavelength of the LED with the color of the lens. We recommend using transparent lenses, which will maximize light output.
