Sylvania 28W Octron FO28 XP Supersaver Ecologic lamps operate on standard T8 instant start ballasts and provide 12.5 percent energy savings over standard 32W T8 lamps. At 10 cents per kWh and 4000 hours of operation per year, this amounts to savings of nearly six dollars per fixture per year, for a four lamp fixture using a normal ballast factor instant start ballast. Additional savings are possible with Sylvania QHE or PSX ballasts. The 94 percent lumen maintenance of the FO28/800XP/SS/ECO lamp assures that light levels are maintained while energy is saved. These lamps pass the Federal TCLP test, classifying them as non-hazardous waste in most states. Group relamp your facility today to start realizing the benefits of these lamps right away.

This 28W F32T8 really is just as bright as the full 32W T8 bulb. To test this, we installed the FO28/841/XP/SS/ECO Sylvania bulbs and the FO32/741/ECO, also by Sylvania, in identical fixtures. The fixtures were the P232E81-TS-8 by Lamar Lighting, which include a power cord. We plugged the two fixtures in to one Kill-a-Watt each on the same power strip, and turned them on. To be fair, we did wait 100 hours before taking a sampling of wattage and lumens, but we found that the 32W configuration used 59W total for the two lamps, while the 28 watt setup used only 52W. The light produced by the 28W setup appeared brighter to my eye, but my trusty Ideal Stick Digital Light Meter actually confirmed that the measurable light was really identical, measuring 55 footcandles at three feet from the center of the fixture in an otherwise unlit room.
